The Vape Industry Hired “Influencers” to Target Young People

“In July, a congressional report found that Juul Labs Inc. had spent more than $200,000 to recruit influencers and market to young people. Now, the FDA, Federal Trade Commission and Congress are all investigating the social media marketing of e-cigs.” (https://nypost.com/2019/10/15/vape-influencers-say-theyre-the-real-victims-of-vaping-illness-crisis/).One example of a site that seems to recruit influencers states, “By joining the VAPORDNA Influencer Network, you will be able to promote VAPORDNA’s expansive product line, exclusive offers and earn 10%-20% commission on sales.” (https://vapordna.com/pages/influencer-program). Fortunately, the Feds are looking into this tactic. “Federal agencies are going after companies that paid social media “influencers” to promote vaping products, the US Food and Drug Administration announced Friday.” (https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/07/health/fda-ftc-influencer-marketing-vaping-ecigarettes-bn/index.html).

If you or a family member is 25 YEARS OLD OR YOUNGER and ADDICTED to a JUUL device, you (of that family member) may be entitled to compensation. If your first experience with nicotine was through a Juul device and you are now addicted, you should know about the following lawsuit: Bradley Colgate, et al. v. Juul Labs, Inc., et al. (Case MDL No. 2913). Treating this case, and other similar cases, like it does with many “mass torts / multidistrict litigation” cases, the federal court system has consolidated the cases into one courtroom, and that courtroom is in the United Stated District Court for Northern California. With this development, I believe that things have taken a major, and positive, turn for the victims of the vape and e-cigarette industries.
